Possible Tastings:
Sandwich with panelle and crocchè – the beating heart of Palermo street food is a sesame sandwich stuffed with potato croquettes and panelle, chickpea flour pancakes. Absolutely worth trying to begin your immersion in the rich and tasty Sicilian culinary tradition.
Ca meuza sandwich – if you love experimenting and aren't scared by strong flavours, then you can try this sandwich filled with small pieces of spleen boiled and then fried with lard. A sandwich for true connoisseurs!
Sfincione – is made with a dough similar to that of pizza, covered with fresh tomato sauce, anchovy paste, capers and onion. The sfincione is the Palermo version of pizza!
Arancini – famous all over the world, arancini are rice balls filled with the most varied ingredients: meat, raw ham, spinach, various types of cheese and much more. They are then fried as tradition dictates.
Sicilian cannoli – the wafer, traditionally shaped around a hot metal bar, is filled with a sweet and creamy preparation made with ricotta, candied fruit, crunchy pistachios or dark chocolate chips. An explosion of taste and colour! Do you want to replicate them at home? Find the recipe here.
Sicilian granita – perfect for relaxing and cooling off on hot summer afternoons. It is served in a glass and is ideal for finishing off a rich meal. Fresh fruit, sugar and ice are the necessary ingredients, simple, but incredibly tasty... imagine it served with coffee, chocolate or fresh fruit!
